On our third stop of our full-day tour to the south Highlands, we visited the only lake of Scotland, lake Menteith (the only one because all the rest are called “lochs” by the locals). We stopped at a spot along the main road and for a while we went down near the shore of the lake to enjoy the wonderful views. This lake is a popular destination for fishing and trekking in the surroundings. There are also many small islands worth exploring by boat and the biggest of them hosts an ancient monastery.
Δεύτερη στάση της ημερήσιας εκδρομής μας στα νότια Highlands, η μοναδική λίμνη της Σκωτίας, η λίμνη Menteith (μοναδική, καθώς όλες τις υπόλοιπες λίμνες τις ονομάζουν οι ντόπιοι “lochs”). Σταματήσαμε λοιπόν σε ένα σημείο πάνω στο δρόμο, και για λίγη ώρα κατεβήκαμε στις όχθες της λίμνης για να θαυμάσουμε την υπέροχη θέα. Η λίμνη είναι δημοφιλές μέρος για ψάρεμα και πεζοπορία στη γύρω περιοχή. Υπάρχουν επίσης πολλά νησάκια προς εξερεύνηση με βάρκες ή κανό και στο μεγαλύτερο από αυτά στεγάζεται και ένα αρχαίο μοναστήρι.
